In December 2011, banglanatak.com created a homely cultural space at Baitanik. Baitanik basks in the glory of memories associated with Soumendranath Tagore. The space is named Akhra. On every Saturaday and Sunday at 6.30 pm, Akhra witnesses different types of cultural performances. Since its inception, Akhra has been an open platform for understanding heritage in the present day context and providing a linkage between the rural traditional culture and urban ways of life. Rural folk artists shared stage with urban sophisticated performers to create magical moments that overwhelmed the audience. Apart from that, the rural handicraft artists also showcase their pieces of excellence here. Be at Akhra to enjoy the cultural rendezvous. A tete-e-tete over tea and snacks at Akhra is something the Kolkatans now look forward to at the weekends.
